Review of BIC-TA2006

The first international conference on Bio-inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA 2006) has been held in Wuhan from September 18 to 22, 2006. Four parallel sections were organized, devoted to these four main areas of bio-inspired computing: DNA Computing; Membrane Computing; Neural Computing; and Evolutionary Computing.

There were 114 papers accepted for oral presentation at the rate 25%, and 87 papers for poster presentation. For the post-conference publication, a special issue of ˇ°Progress in Natural Scienceˇ± was arranged for the papers from the Membrane Computing section, and a special column of ˇ°Progress in Natural Scienceˇ± for the papers from DNA Computing section. A special issue of ˇ°Neural computing and Applicationsˇ±, two special issues of ˇ°Journal of Universal Computer Scienceˇ±, and a special issue of Dynamics of Continuous, Discrete and Impulsive Systems were arranged for the selected papers from the Neural Computing section and Evolutionary Computing section.
